Where on the face is Botox usually injected?

The question as a client puts it: where exactly will the needle go? Two sources describe areas, one narrow and one broad, and neither names your injection sites.

The common areas, as quoted

www.plasticsurgery.org says: "The most commonly treated areas are frown lines, forehead creases and crow's feet near the eyes."

A gloved hand marks small dots along the crow's feet beside a woman's eye.

The wider list

my.clevelandclinic.org says: "This treatment can smooth fine lines and wrinkles in several areas of your face, including your:"

  • Eyebrows
  • Forehead
  • Nose
  • Eyes
  • Lips
  • Chin
  • Jawline
  • Neck

Where the wording can mislead

"Most commonly" describes how often an area is treated, not where yours will be. "Including" means the list may not be complete. The list also names the neck, so if a pitch in Ann Arbor says "face" only, ask whether the neck is covered.

The line to ask for

Ask for the injection sites to be written into the agreement by name, using the same terms these sources use. For a neutral reference, read MedlinePlus on Botox injections and the botulinum toxin topic page at dermnetnz.org.
